Kyle Hooper was born in Milton, MA in 1985. He attended the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University and received his Bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. He was the recipient of multiple scholarships as well as being a Yale Norfolk Nominee as an undergrad. Hooper’s oil paintings depict varying subjects from people he knows well to power tools and studio objects that aid in the creation of his images, each one a true reflection of self. With precision and unwavering attention to detail, his paintings become atmospheric and almost real.  Many of Hooper’s oil paintings are created on marine plywood panels constructed by the artist himself, each one goes through an arduous process of being painted, sanded, and repainted many times over to achieve the exacting quality he demands. His portraiture work spans the spectrum from fluid and painterly, to precise and hyper detailed.
